Mizushima Plant
The Mizushima Plant is conveniently located in a corner of the Mizushima Petrochemical Complex, which overlooks the Seto Inland Sea by Kurashiki City in Okayama Prefecture. Production here is primarily focussed on the electrolysis of salts using the ion-exchange membrane cell method and chlorine-based organic solvents, such as trichloroethylene and perchloroethylene. However, this focus has shifted as the IT industry has grown. We now produce lithium hexafluorophosphate for batteries, silicon tetrafluoride for optical fibers, and chlorine trifluoride which has gained favor as a next-generation industrial gas. In addition, we have built a full-fledged plant for organic intermediates for crystal materials and medical and agriculturals. The Mizushima Plant fills the role of secondary base for the fluorine business that is the Company's strong point.
